The Dance Initiative are all about collaboration whether that's working with our participants and audience to create an imaginative performance or collaborating with other artists from all different backgrounds.
This is definitely something we want to do more of in the future as the company grows, in the meantime check out our unbelievably talented and inspirational collaborators below. Find out more about them by clicking their images.
We had the pleasure of working together back in October/November 2014 part of the Moments of Breath and Hand Jive Team under the direction of Jayne Devlin.
Jayne has extensive experience and knowledge of working with a variety of different people using dance as her main tool. The Dance Initiative has a lot to learn from Jayne and there will hopefully be more opportunities to collaborate in the future.
Cathy may be new to working with dance in this setting however this does not mean an inexperience. Cathy shows real passion for sharing dance with others and has led Keep Fit Classes for a number of years. Her way with words for poetic effect keeps The Dance Initiative inspired and can't wait to work together in the future.
Move Better Live Better
Lauren of The Dance Initiative started working with Lizzie back in May 2013 delivering a movement programme for the clients at Age UK Day Care Centre, Falmouth.
The project united Dance & Choreography students at Falmouth University with the clients at Age UK Falmouth. Combining practical movement exercises with creativity allowed for an evidence based movement programme for the service users.
The project was a real success and as a result Lauren still runs classes at the day care centre every other Friday.
There are new ideas in the pipeline for another collaboration very soon and The Dance Initiative are excited to start working with Lizzie again in the near future.
Timothy P. Ellis
We loved collaborating with Tim to produce Gypsy Vibes. We used Gypsy Jazz to create imaginative performance in care homes and other venues across Cornwall.
Hopefully there will be more opportunities to collaborate in the future.
